Books you say?

Yuki had heard about a strange tower in the North. And what was even more fascinating was that many thought it was a wizard's tower and that it held so many books. Well once he caught wind of that, he had to go off and find out this thing for himself. After all, he did have a promise to keep regarding research.

So he packed himself a few things in his backpack including pens and paper and headed out, following the directions he was given. It took him awhile but he found his way, seeing people pass by him talking about the tower and the books to be found there. He listened carefully and knew he was on the right track.

After awhile he found himself looking up at the Tower itself and nodded. If this place was half as great as the people he'd passed on the road, this would be a great place to be and go. Cautiously Yuki headed up to the great door and poked his grey head around inside, looking things up and down. But soon he smiled and walked in, with his eyes blinking repeatedly at the endless rows and twists and turns of books here there and everywhere.

"Is anyone here?" This was asked in his usual quiet tone, which was more hushed because library.

Nida hasn't achieved much in the form of his own research, but by the time return is expected, he had three different books on plants. Two on flowers, one on vegetables. But hey, some things happen.

"My finds."

Yuki nodded to Jacob, knowing they'd go together but still he felt bad for the other's teacher. Was there something they could do to help him? Somewhere inside, he had a feeling he might have the same dilemma at some point, wanting to take someone home or the reverse. Wouldn't it be prudent to start there before it became a problem? He just felt so selfish looking for something within his own interests.

So grey eyes looked over to his companion. "Should we talk to the lady who greeted us when we got here?" His head gestured backwards where Nida had gone. "For your sensei I mean."

"Huh?" Jacob looked surprised as he began to shift through the selves to see what they could find. Nida wasn't too far away but he was sure that they wouldn't be over heard. "I don't think they know but we can ask. I get the feeling they can't really control what the Creator does either."

He glanced through the shelf in front of him and pulled out a book about farmers, passing it over to Yuki to glance at.

"I also have to get back to work soon. Not sure I can stay for too much longer." He pulled out another history book but this one was about the market practices. It might not help with gardening but it'd give them an idea of what was sold here.

Jacob glanced around and noticed that Nida was back at the table. "Looks like he found a few. I hope you don't mind if I leave you with Nida?" He looked at Yuki as if asking if the other man would be safe with his teacher. It was hard to tell if Jake was serious or not.

"Perhaps Nida would like to be asked first," Nida muses with a smirk. What a foolish young man. But his feet are up on the table and he's flipping through one of the plant books. He's clearly content to stay.

He didn't like Jacob's answer though he knew it to be the truth. Still, it irked him deep inside. But the book being handed to him made him think of the promise he'd made so he had to focus on what he could control.

Disappointment went through him as he heard the other had to go back to work but of course he understood that. "Alright. So he took the other book without a complaint and tried to focus on the words written.

But then he was nervous. He really didn't know Jacob's sensei, and maybe the man had other things to do. And he was about to protest that he didn't need a babysitter when Nida's voice rang out clear enough to be heard. So the only thing the blonde saw was a smirk on Yuki's face.

Jacob jumped, turning to see that Nida hadn't stayed at the table but had come to see what was taking them so long. "Nida! You're going to give me a heart attack!" His voice remained whispered, they were around too many books to speak loudly, but his tone was harsh and tense.

He placed his hand over his heart and tried to steady his pulse. Jake was used to his teacher surprising him but that didn't mean he was used to it.

"Okay. Well I should get back to work but I'll help out afterwards and maybe we can find some answers to this... staying and going thing." Jacob figured that some people might even want to stay here so maybe the Creator could focus on those people instead of just grabbing people at random.

First rule of Nida, Jacob: he never stays where you left him. It's just not in his nature to be so... stagnant. He's winds and seas, and motion was a need of his. Which made his line of work back home sometimes frustrating.

"I'll watch out for Yuki," he said as he closed the rest of the distance, smirking at Jacob. "Not like I was going anywhere else before dinner."

Grey eyes looked at Jacob in concern. While it was true he'd been startled too, he hadn't quite had Jacob's reaction. So he nodded to the blonde as he said he had to go. The unanswered question as to why Jacob had followed him remained, but maybe he would find that out at some later date.

Right, the coming and going thing, and Yuki had no idea where to even start looking.

But he watched as Nida approached and couldn't understand it. He didn't need looked after and it reminded him of the time Hatsuharu told Kakeru to take care of him. But he kept his slight irritation hidden behind a nod to Jacob.

Jacob eyed Nida. "The way you say that has me worried." But he really did have to get back to work.

He turned to Yuki and grinned. "I'll keep looking in my down time and I'll let you know what I come across. So... I'll see you later." He was trying not to be awkward and very aware that Nida was watching him. "But yeah, I'll be at the shop if you need anything."

He stepped back after nodding once at Yuki and then again at Nida. He realized that Yuki didn't need someone watching him but it was natural for him to want his friend to be safe... right? Totally normal. Maybe he was being weird.

"Don't worry."

WHy would someone ever worry about him? Silly. Nida smiles and look at Yuki.

"I found some books. Wanna see them?"

"Thank you." Yuki replied with another nod to the blonde. He didn't know what 'anything' could be but maybe it was simply Jacob's way of apologizing that he had to leave. A small part of him didn't want the other to go anywhere either but it wasn't like either of them had a choice in the matter. But what stayed with him was wondering why he'd been smiled at like that. And grey eyes tried not to look at the retreating figure, mentally willing himself not to feel like he had when Haru took off on him.

Turning to Nida now, he refrained from asking questions the other might not be willing to answer, so he nodded. "Yes I'd like to see them, if you don't mind."

With the way that Jacob smiled and Yuki looked after him... Oh Nida was smiling. In a very self-satisfied way. A smile that lingered as he handed over the books.

"So, Jacob, huh?"

His eyes started to look over the books as he fought to push Jacob and his questions about him out of his mind. He still had no answers as to why the other had followed him but he had. And it was so confusing because it didn't make any sense other than to be a creeper which Yuki was more than sure that the other wasn't.

But Nida's smile was uncomfortable in the sense that he got the impression the other was forming conclusions. So Yuki kept his voice level as he asked his question. "What about him?"

"Nothing," Nida sighs. These men were going to drive him mad. "It's nothing. At all. But yeah, plant books on a few different subjects. I admit, I'm not good with plants."

Yuki didn't feel as if it were a case of 'nothing'. But he wasn't going to push or inquire any further than he had to. Things could remain peaceable and that's right where he wanted them to stay.

But he took one of the books and began leafing through it. It had a few interesting ideas as to how to keep the plants hardy and thriving in winter which was a huge help, especially with him not knowing the seasons or even being familiar with the soil available.

The next book seemed like it had some good general plant care and as he looked at that, his grey eyes looked over the top of the current tome. "You weren't able to find anything on the other topic?"

"No," Nida answers quite honestly. "Nor do I expect to. But I have to keep looking. I love Ignis too much to lose him."

He is tired of losing the people he loves most.

Grey eyes looked downcast. He knew he had to get some books on gardening and plants because of his promise to Lauri-Ell, but obviously this man was fighting not to lose the man he loved.

Yuki had to wonder if there was a way to bring Jacob to his own world. Well that was just stupid because the other had a family to go back to and here he was being selfish again. But he did recall how much he'd cried when he'd found out the blonde had passed away.

"If the books aren't here, where else would you look?" He was trying to be careful here because this line of questioning might border on being rude.

"I don't know," Nida admits, a sad look on his face. But he has to do it, he has to find a way. Has to fight. Love was like that. The desperate need to be with Ignis burned in him.

But he supposed the answer could be shown.

He reaches into his shirt to pull out a chain upon which two rings that looked like galaxies on it.

"I've lost someone to this world jumping before. Because they went home without me. I lost love, and I wont' allow it again."

"You've done this before?" Yuki asked, looking at the rings and at Nida. This really bothered him and idly he wondered if Jacob knew. Now of course he wasn't about to say anything to the other regarding this but still it really had to hurt.

For a moment he struggled with what to say before shaking his head. "I'm really sorry." And it made something in him kindle. There had to be a way to keep them together. People were just randomly pulled here maybe sure. But what about the connections they made while they were here? Was this just someone's version of a game?

"This is the third world that has kidnapped me," Nida answered quite plainly. "But, well, it wasn't until I got here that I knew I could even go home. Still don't want to, though. I could care less."

Hyne got on perfectly well without him, thank you very much.

Nida shakes his head and stretches. "Guess I'll have to talk to the Aspects again. But there'll always be research. Mind if I ask why you're looking into plants with winter on us?"

Nida's frank answer both startled Yuki and rattled him to his bones. Why the other man would lie about such a thing was beyond comprehension so he had to believe it, as hard as it might seem to be to swallow. He could only imagine the friends and sort of family that if they were made they were torn apart more than a few times.

Talk to the Aspects and research..that was about all anyone could do at this point. And somehow for some reason Yuki couldn't explain, it made him angry. But luckily the other's question about plants took the wind out of his sails and he shook his head.

"They're for research. Nothing here is familiar at all, and if they have Spring, seeds will need to be planted." He somehow highly doubted he'd go home in that time frame.

"They will have Spring," Nida says with certainty. "And I expect the people here will know what to plant and when. But it's good to look into it, just in case."

He misses farms. Strange, right?

"Right." Yuki replied, mentally still working on Nida's issue. "But they have things here they don't back home so I had to do some research." He didn't want to mention that this whole place seemed to be a different time too so he just kept that one quiet.

Oh, that's a fair point. Nida didn't pay as much attention to plants not trying to kill him.

"It's archaic too, from my point of view. I miss motorcycles."

Archaic got him nodding and he looked at Nida almost worriedly. "It is. And speaking of, do you even know what year it is here? I've asked around myself and people just smile like I should already know." It was weird to him that people wouldn't even tell him and he had to sit and do more research yet on it too.

Sometimes it even felt like they wanted to pat him on the head.
