[ The voice that starts to speak has a fairly apparent Russian accent and tone that betrays just how tired she is. ]

I know an entity like this bear our Captain spoke of. [ There's a hint of sarcasm her tone with the word Captain. Illyana never has been fond of showing respect to people she has none for. ] The Demon Bear is a nightmare entity that my [ she pauses awkwardly for a second ]...friends and I defeated long ago. I suppose a demon is rarely truly defeated though. They always return to be irritating. [ Unless you wipe them from all reality. Then they stay gone. Would have been a useful thing to know all those years ago. ]

This entity is not exactly the same but it is similar enough. The Demon Bear gains it's power from negative emotions. It feeds off them, implanting terror inside the minds of it's victims. It has no goal aside from the corruption of human souls. It is powerful and most importantly cunning. To it we are nothing more than food to be harvested.

[ She pauses for a second. ] Be careful in your sleep, that was where he was strongest.[ Her tone has a strange edge to it. ] I would suggest not sleeping. It will become more difficult to wake the longer he is inside your dreams.

Soul eater that enjoyed the flavoring of fear. [ She pauses. ] He also had a large vendetta against a teammate of mine.

The worst kind of soul-eater. [Trust him. He's related to one.] A fear-eater with a vengeance streak. How'd you bring him down?

[That might be important.]

I would think they were all the worst kind. [ A pause ] The Soulsword.

A creature that feeds off of negative emotions..

[Hey he might know a thing or two about things like that!]

And this fiend has the ability to haunt dreams?

[But wait..]

You said you and your companions defeated it, correct? Might I ask how you accomplished this?

[Curious knight is curious.]

[soulsword]

It draws it's power from the negativity it absorbs. [ A pause ] It can make it's presence in your dreams transfer to the physical plane. Or to it's own realm, the Badlands. [ Though she's really not certain if the Demon Bear here is capable of the same things. ]

The Soulsword.

[He has no idea what the Badlands are but they obviously doesn't sound pleasant. However, there is a mention of a sword so he's a little familiar with a holy sort of sword sitting in Yggdrasil though it had turned black when the Lord of Shadows twisted it.]

And I take it this soul sword is not here for us to use in battle against this beast?

[soulsword]

It goes where I go. [ She sounds a bit amused. ] It was made from my soul. This entity is not exactly the same though. I think...it might be a copy?

[He's confused.]

So it is a sword made from your soul?

[And he's wondering how that works exactly.]

Yes. It is a physical manifestation of my life force energy and magic. It also grants rulership of Limbo.

Is there a way to stop it for good? What about magic?

Was that confusing?

[ She pauses for a second. ]

This one is not exactly the same, so I can't say for certain. The one I have stopped can only be temporarily destroyed it seems.

Not confusing but maybe that could be the key.

If we can stop it from feeding somehow. Even if it isn't the same, it needs power and if it gets it from fear, well, that's one thing we know and can use.

[He figures that has to be some powerful sword if it comes from one's soul. But there was a term he wasn't familiar with.]

Limbo?

The realm I rule. Some know it as Otherplace.

[soulsword]

Can you stop yourself from feeling negative emotions? [ That would be a useful trait. ]

It creates fear and negativity by haunting dreams. If it has gotten amassed power it can bring those illusions into the waking world. At least that was our experience.

It almost sounds as if using that sword would cost you your life.

[soulsword]

It is connected to my lifeforce. Using it against something I do not fully understand the nature of could be...problematic. I have been trying to find out more information about it's nature.

[Hendrik would give his life for the Luminary and that was what he had promised. But giving up a life for a cause not believed in or known of fully? That wouldn't make a very noble sacrifice.]

If that is the case, then we must find another way.

[soulsword]

If no other way is found, I am not opposed to taking it on myself. [ But recent events have made her more aware that just jumping into her own plans can sometimes work out poorly. ] I wish I knew more about it. The most I can figure out is that it appears to be some sort of copy.

[The briefest of brief pauses.]

That sounds important. I don't suppose you have one laying around?

Taking such a creature on by yourself, regardless of how powerful you are, would not be a wise course of action.

[Says the guy who would do such a thing..]

Why would you say that?

[Maybe he was being unfair here, and he realized he was being hypocritical. But thinking of a boy who's quest it was to save their world from darkness, he wouldn't want the Luminary to face the perils of that alone.]

Because you cannot know what sort of toll the battle will take. Should something happen to you, someone else should be there to make certain you will recover.

[That gave him pause.]
