Things are Changing - Endgame

Who; The Five (Main Fight), anyone for other prompts
What; Bringing down the Demon Bear and dealing with the other things it’s brought with it
Where; (Little Terrors) All over the city; Main Event: Abandoned Square, Noble District
When; Halloween Night (when else?) for the main fight, leading up to Halloween for the others
Warnings; As the DB (Demon Bear) can manipulate the mind and cause hallucinations based on fears, general warnings for scarred characters apply. This will be updated if anything more specific occurs.

Note: The Main Event is only for those who volunteered on the event plotting post. It will determine whether the bear is defeated or retreats (retreat is obviously the worse outcome).

The event will affect the rest of the city as well to a lesser extent! Have fun with it!

Normally he'd be happy to see her, but today the appearance of anyone was getting on his nerves more and more. Illyana herself was complicated, making him question a lot of things he'd rather not focus on in the first place.

He did look up when she approached, though, frown deepening.

"What would you need help with?"

Something stirred her mystical senses but at the moment she could not quite tell where it was coming from. Whatever it was it made her hairs stand up with a prickly sensation. The smallest hint of a frown touched her lips and she gave a shrug.

"Not much." At least she had confirmation that she was pretty bad at jokes. "I came to check on you."

He tilts his head to the side. "Sure, pet. There's something running around killing people, people are missing, I can't sleep. How do you think I'm doing?"

"There are numerous things running around doing something. I can feel them," she said with a lack of emotion. "Not sleeping is for the best. The Demon Bear in my universe could gain power in your nightmares."

"Good for you." He pinched the bridge of his nose with a frown, feeling a headache coming on. "Anything else I can help you with?"

"Someone is grumpy," she said with narrowed eyes. Grumpy or perhaps something else. "Perhaps I should be asking you that."

He clenched his jaw before running a hand back through his hair.

"You came here for me. I'm fine so what do you want?"

"Of course, you do seem fine." Her voice was tinged with an extreme amount of sarcasm. Illyana might not be good with people but she could still tell when something was off with someone. Not to mention she felt something was off. Something tinged her mystical senses but she could not completely place it yet.

"You are more grumpy than Logan on a bad day. Did something happen?"

"Aside from people dying or going missing you mean? Nah, nothing's happened." For some reason, that bit of sarcasm didn't satisfy his rising irritation as much as it normally did and he frowned, looking over to her.

"The great magic user doesn't have any ideas about what's going on other than 'it's a bear'?"

"Did someone that matters to you go missing?" There were very few people here she actually found herself caring about. Even then she barely kept up with them.

She narrowed her eyes at his question. "There is something beyond the Demon Bear. Have you not seen them? Little shadow creatures slithering around."

"A co-worker." Not someone who mattered to him, really, though he had started to like the guy. "You know, it almost figures he's gone missing. The universe does like to kick me around most of the time."

"He? I thought you worked with Yuna." That was the only one she could directly recall. If she was honest though, she barely paid attention to most people here. The fact that people were creating businesses here seemed a bit odd to her. Perhaps normal people just craved normalcy.

"How inconvenient for you that someone else has gone missing."

"Yeah, she's the boss, but what does it matter to you? You checked on me and I'm fine." The emphasis on the word was harsher than he'd normally intend and an energy swelled with it, whispy and dark and hiding in his psyche the next instant.

"You need anything else?"

"You sound far from fine." She scrunched her eyebrows up in concern at his tone and the strange energy she suddenly felt around her. "What's wrong with you?"

"Well, I was having a shit day, and then someone kept asking me what was wrong. That's a start."

"You are not usually so unpleasant." She scrunched her face up and glared back at him. "You feel strange. Like there is something else inside you." Something dark that was only apparent at the very edges.

"Maybe I'm a damned good liar." He stood then, overcome with more and more rage ad the conversation progressed, and then something about him did change, a sort of energy seething around him, barely perceptible but there nonetheless.

"I would know if you were a good liar," she said with another glare. Liar's always recognized each other after all. Lately Illyana had been nothing but a liar. It had been a necessity, at least in her eyes, but they had been lies on top of lies nonetheless.

"Has anything unusual happened to you today? Other than what you have already stated with your missing employee."

"I'm stuck in a town in another bloody world, surrounded by aliens, and mutants, and Lord knows what else, there's a rabid bear on the loose." He scoffed, shaking his head. "I've lost sight of what 'unusual' might be. Got a suggestion?"

"Another creature. I think...smaller. Perhaps something like a shadow?" That was her best guess from what she thought she had glanced out of the corner of her eyes. "You feel wrong." Darkness was something she could always pick up on to some degree.

"You think you're so smart, don't you, with your magic and your superior attitude. There's no weird shadow monster, and I don't need any help with anything, so you can see yourself out, love." The endearment was sneered, but there, under all the ranting, was that same darkness she'd sensed. It was there, whether or not Jagger noticed it.

For a moment her expression betrayed a look of something akin to hurt. It was a strange and unfamiliar feeling that almost shocked her to have come up. Why did she care about stupid things he had to say?

"One does not have to think something when they know it's true," she replied with an overly defensive glare. "Do you really not sense it? There's something in you."

"I sense you're getting on my last nerve." Whatever Jagger might have normally been able to sense about the creature inside him was lost as soon as it was found, the Sha consuming his anger as it bubbled up and multiplying it.

"I did not realize you were so out of touch with your own abilities," she said rather sharply. With the final bit of her patience worn out she muttered a few demonic and ancient words under her breath and tossed the spell out at it. If anything was in him she hoped that it would be enough to detect it and maybe even stir it out of him. Though, she doubted it would be that simple. Still, she wanted confirmation that something truly was in him. One could suspect all they wanted but it was foolish to act without full confirmation.

The Sha possessing her new friend most definitely did not like that level attention being paid to it. It flared within him beyond the physical view, an essence that seemed to shimmer all around him, inside him, and that brought him to his feet. Whatever it was wasn't keen on leaving, and it seemed keen in defending it's hold on the psychic as it reached for a letter opener, the only thing viable as any sort of weapon, atop the desk.
