[ Llewellyn hums a bit awkwardly at the question. Still, he brushed off the apologetic sympathy in favour of the question. ] That wasn’t exactly the end of it… Jack kind of changed his mind, and his wife said she didn’t care as long as her son had someone to call a father so… [ That had been what she said, but her actions and the looks she gave him had suggested otherwise. ] I still loved him. Suppose it made me a bit foolish to think it might not end poorly a second time. But Jack wanted things to be a very specific way, and I admit sometimes I’m not sure if he didn’t prefer her company to mine with how he acted.

[ Someone had pointed out on more than one occasion that the treatment had been a bit cowardly and unfair to Llewellyn, but he’d been trying to ignore that until it all got worse. ]

Then his wife turned up dead and I’m afraid it all turned into an even bigger mess from there.
