Ignis had taken all sorts of time to prepare for this well in advance. At work he found himself counting down the day and finally it arrived. So he made a nice set of steaks, with mushrooms and onions on the side. Also there was fish cooked as close to Nida's island recipeh as he could manage. Parsley potatoes and salad were sides and for dessert there were a few chocolate confections along with their leftover wedding cake. Coffee and tea were available for them too.

On the table were nicely wrapped gifts beside a vase filled with a dozen roses he'd had a florist dye green. One gift contained a piece of paper with writing on it that led Nida to outside to look at two gifts (as paper was a traditional first year gift) which were a new grill and grilling accessories.On the table too sat a small wrapped stack of new notebooks to draw in, and on top of that sat a wrapped professional drawing artist kit. And on top of that was a wrapped plentiful stash of tea.

Ignis had also purchased a new set of candles, a nice stack of wood for their fireplace, a plush rug to sit in front of said fireplace and another personal item for them. But those last bits were upstairs that Nida would see later.

So as he waited for Nida to get home, he bustled around the kitchen, making sure everything was in order.

And here Nida thought it was because he was beautiful and could dance.

"I always appreciate you, my love."

Ignis would go far beyond beautiful in any description of his husband. He would also never forget that dancing was the way Nida had displayed his tailfeathers in his apartment that night after finding the man high up in a tree. Star shaped cookies had been a feature as well which was all thoroughly delightful and enchanting.

"I know and I love you for it."

The advisor gave his husband a quick peck on the cheek as he finished getting dinner on the table.

He might laugh to have it compared to Julia's feathers, but he didn't know and so couldn't laugh.

"And I you for loving me," he answered, moving to help before finally pulling out a chair for Ignis. "Now sit. I cater to you tonight."

Ignis smiled, but that smile faded as he was being seated and told that he was being catered to. Yes this was all well and good but the advisor had planned it being the other way around.

"Oh..alright."

"I live to serve all your needs and wants for the rest of the night," he said, smiling at his husband. He just wanted to be with this man, and make him feel good.

"Now, let me have your plate."

Somehow Nida's words made him hungry both for food and pleasurable things that would have to wait. They had dinner and gifts first and Ignis was all around excited.

So he obeyed his husband without hesitation or question and lifted the requested item.

"Well here is my plate then."

Nida smiled and served first Ignis and then himself, before happily settling in for their meal.

"Smells amazing, as always."

"The proof is in if you like it, darling."

Ignis was pleased by the compliment, but he always waited for someone to taste the stuff before patting himself on the back.

"Your cooking doesn't need proving," Nida countered as he started into his own meal. And yes, it was of course delicious. Which was silly to expect anything else for.

"I thank you for the compliment." Ignis replied, tucking into his own meal after putting his napkin on his lap even if he was pretty close to the table. And his mind went in a whirl as to what he could've done a little differently next time, but he kept that feedback to himself.

The feedback was silly, and Nida was content with the meal. Happy with it even.

"My dear you keep impressing me, with every day. I shall start to think you something divine if you keep it up."

"Well now I am certainly not divine." Ignis replied, after thoroughly wiping his mouth with his napkin. He surely thought his husband was, but that was his own private thought.

"After dinner would you like to open your gifts?"

"Are you one of them?" Nida asked, amusement in his eyes. "Even if not, I'd say yes."

Ignis smiled and still felt a little shy as he answered his husband. "I certainly can be if you'd like."

[skyward_eyes]

"You will be then. Though I am excited for you to open yours, so I fear dessert will be delayed."

[faithfulsupport]

That got a chuckle. "At least dessert won't get cold. And neither will you."

There was a promise in that statement.

Well that earns a bright smile.

"If I do get cold, you swear to warm me up?"

[faithfulsupport]

Ignis smiled and took his husband into his arms.

"I solemnly swear I will do all that I can to keep you warm."

[skyward_eyes]

"Your love is my warmth," he said with a smile. And Hyne he adored this man.

"Would that I could show you the wonders suitable to you."

Ignis kissed his husband after he got that dazzling smile.

The advisor had to slightly smile at the words he heard. "Perhaps someday we can schedule such lovely things."

Time and space permitting.

Time and space indeed.

“We’ll find a way to find that. I’m sure Mono doesn’t mind it at all.”

"I'm sure he wouldn't." Ignis smiled. Since the boy had come back to them he tried to take on more of an advisory role with the lad, although he would always treat the boy as family.

Family was what they were in Nida's books. A little brother in their house.

"For now we should probably mar our plans for the evening."

That had Ignis wonder, but he nodded.

"Alright, another time then."

[skyward_eyes]

Indeed. ANd he smiled.

"Come on, let's get dinner finished and these gifts opened."

All of them. Including the ones that are, well, each other.
