Ignis had taken all sorts of time to prepare for this well in advance. At work he found himself counting down the day and finally it arrived. So he made a nice set of steaks, with mushrooms and onions on the side. Also there was fish cooked as close to Nida's island recipeh as he could manage. Parsley potatoes and salad were sides and for dessert there were a few chocolate confections along with their leftover wedding cake. Coffee and tea were available for them too.

On the table were nicely wrapped gifts beside a vase filled with a dozen roses he'd had a florist dye green. One gift contained a piece of paper with writing on it that led Nida to outside to look at two gifts (as paper was a traditional first year gift) which were a new grill and grilling accessories.On the table too sat a small wrapped stack of new notebooks to draw in, and on top of that sat a wrapped professional drawing artist kit. And on top of that was a wrapped plentiful stash of tea.

Ignis had also purchased a new set of candles, a nice stack of wood for their fireplace, a plush rug to sit in front of said fireplace and another personal item for them. But those last bits were upstairs that Nida would see later.

So as he waited for Nida to get home, he bustled around the kitchen, making sure everything was in order.

"Forever and a day, but most especially in the last twenty minutes or so," Nida answered with a smile that he knew had to look charming. Or he hoped it did. Please tell him it's charming.

Ignis sure was charmed. "I don't see how you expect me to be able to resist such a wonderfully sweet proposition with that lovely smile of yours." He bent down just a little to kiss his husband briefly.

"Dinner will be quite cold by then darling."

Yes, it would be cold by then. What a shame.

"And there is nothing good to be said for the prospect of cold dinner," Nida answered, his voice full of some playful lamenting.

Ah but the wonder of being pampered right now. It made him feel so good to be treated like this.

"You make me value myself, as ever."

The advisor smiled. "I suppose after making quite sure that you're satiated I could heat some of it up and bring it to you while you stay in bed."

There was plenty of extra wood for their fireplace there and then there was that fur rug that they would need to break in. Plus there was an abundance of lubrication waiting as well.

Ignis kissed his husband softly and pulled back shortly thereafter.

"That's good to hear, since you were the one who taught me to do that."

"And make you walk around more when you should be the one pampered today?" Nida asked, rolling his eyes. Yeah, he wasn't going to enjoy letting that happen. So food first, then enjoying each other before, well, enjoying the rug as well.

"I'm not sure which is more sad, that someone like me taught you how to value yourself, or that you hadn't before."

"I don't mind at all." Ignis replied in what sounded to his own ears like somewhat of a protest. In reality he totally had no issue with taking care of his beloved husband. It was just who he was and what he liked to do.

But then Nida's words had him pause and for a moment he didn't know quite what to say. "Why do you say someone like you? That almost sounds as if you're insulting yourself."

This had him confused and he reached for Nida's hands in an attempt to establish a connection between them.

Nida rolled his eyes because he knows his husband should know by now that his opinions of himself are not the greatest.

"My love," he said, letting the hand take his, "I'm not as good of a man as you are. And I know that. So that my eyes could help you see something amazing of yourself is always shocking to me. And a delight."

And Nida's husband believes in Nida so much that he doesn't see the flaws that the man sees in himself.

He's comforted by the hand holding because it meant so much at times to simply hold the other man's hand. So Ignis smiled. "And I am amazed that you don't see the wonderful man who's had both the strength and courage overcome some very hard trials that would've taken lesser men. One day I hope you can be as proud of you as I am."

The advisor leaned down slightly and kissed his husband.

Oh Ignis knew the right thing to say, and that made Nida's heart swell with such joy and desire. And yes, he was very happy to hear it from his love. And he was happier to just move to pull Ignis into his arms so he can hold him through the kiss. A very good kiss. A hungry kiss.

Inwardly Ignis laughed, because this kiss was turning out to be so much more emotionally fueled than he had intended it. But that was what he loved his husband for, for being the emotional side of him.

He followed Nida's lead and held onto his mate's face as they kissed because contact was so very important to one who'd been pretty touch starved all his life.

Yes, very touch starved, for both of them. And he just wanted to be closer to the man. Which wasn't going to be a thing. Not right at the second.

"We should eat."

Ignis pulled back when he heard those words, and moved to pull out Nida's chair and get the finishing touches done.

"Of course."

Nida moved to take his chair and twisted it around so he could sit down and watch Ignis.

"At least you're a delight to watch."

Nida's husband smiled a little shyly.

"I hope you say that about me and other areas of the house."

"Of course I say it everywhere, and any time."

ANd yes, he's still smiling, because why would he not be? He loves this man.

Ignis turned away because his face was more than likely a dark red. He loved the feeling that his husband gave him. They'd been married a year and every day felt like the first day all over.

"Then let's see what you say to dinner shall we?"

"I say yes," Nida said as he rose to his lover. Better to help carry dinner over for himself. "And please, because you always do good work."

Before Ignis could even blink, Nida was up on his feet to help which reminded him of one of the many reasons as to why he fell in love with his husband.

"I do love an appreciative audience."

And there was a huge smile on his face.

And here Nida thought it was because he was beautiful and could dance.

"I always appreciate you, my love."

Ignis would go far beyond beautiful in any description of his husband. He would also never forget that dancing was the way Nida had displayed his tailfeathers in his apartment that night after finding the man high up in a tree. Star shaped cookies had been a feature as well which was all thoroughly delightful and enchanting.

"I know and I love you for it."

The advisor gave his husband a quick peck on the cheek as he finished getting dinner on the table.

He might laugh to have it compared to Julia's feathers, but he didn't know and so couldn't laugh.

"And I you for loving me," he answered, moving to help before finally pulling out a chair for Ignis. "Now sit. I cater to you tonight."

Ignis smiled, but that smile faded as he was being seated and told that he was being catered to. Yes this was all well and good but the advisor had planned it being the other way around.

"Oh..alright."

"I live to serve all your needs and wants for the rest of the night," he said, smiling at his husband. He just wanted to be with this man, and make him feel good.

"Now, let me have your plate."

Somehow Nida's words made him hungry both for food and pleasurable things that would have to wait. They had dinner and gifts first and Ignis was all around excited.

So he obeyed his husband without hesitation or question and lifted the requested item.

"Well here is my plate then."

Nida smiled and served first Ignis and then himself, before happily settling in for their meal.

"Smells amazing, as always."
