Market - (OTA) Ignis was out enjoying the day. Leaves seemed to be falling pretty abundantly lately and he could only smile. This was the season that he'd gotten married in and his first year anniversary with Nida was only a month away. Ignis was searching for autumnal foods to start cooking, as he always tried to stay pretty prepared. There would be new spices and ingredients to be stocking up now as well. So here he was out in the market (his second favourite place), looking through pumpkins and squash. He'd heard rumours of maple candy in the stalls, so that was what he was in search of for the moment. Turning around when he heard a voice, the strategist shook his head. "I'm quite certain that they told me about this at the Lodge. Have you heard of the merchants selling maple flavoured things?"

Park (OTA) - Ignis turned his head towards the sky as he led his chocobo mount over to a nice soft patch of grass with available water nearby. Once the bird was settled, and he gave it some greens he'd purchased from the chocobo ranch, he sat down on a nearby bench, pulling out a book to read. There were so many things he needed to do around the house, but some break time was needed and he knew that. So he opened his book, and once he realized someone was there, he bookmarked his place and closed it. "I'm sorry I didn't realize I had company."

Cooking (Closed to Luna) Luna had expressed an interest in learning to cook at the beach. And while it had been some time since their meeting, he'd found out where she was and sent a message to one of the people there to let her know that he hadn't forgotten about his promise to teach her. So Ignis had gotten the arrangements made, and procured simple ingredients so that Luna could pursue her learning to cook. The last person he'd helped teach was Jacob, although he did wonder if a certain newer person at the Lodge might care to learn as well.

But at the appointed time, he had tea and cookies ready and when he heard the knock on the door, Ignis opened it with a smile at his new apprentice. "Do come in Luna, I've been expecting you."

Rhy was here for a purpose too, a purpose of gathering new, lovely tastes for himself and his husband. And the little Princess that he cared about so much. So yes, he was looking through stands with joy too.

"Ah, Master Ignis," he said, bowing his head to the other. "You're looking too? I heard the same rumors, and wanted to get some for Llewellyn and Luna."

"That your bird?"

It wasn't the first time Zack had asked it. The guy hadn't noticed at first because of the book, but when he realized it, Zack just grinned and nodded at the man.

"It's beautiful."

Yusuke fluctuated between silence and exaggerated excitement when it came to working on a new art piece. Today had been the former, as he found himself at the park and taking in the slowly changing season and his eyes on the lake before him. So it wasn’t entirely surprising that Ignis hadn’t realized he had company. The teen was focused on an outline he was working onto the canvas before him to paint.

“Oh!! Good afternoon, Ignis. You needn’t apologize, your company is welcome!” Ignis was a nice man, and an adult that he had some respect for. Yusuke also hadn’t seen the man in a while, after all. Kept busy between the ‘project’ Ren had begun with those of them who arrived, and the whole... mirror-verse fiasco.

"Yes." Ignis smiled, setting his book down that had the leaf holding his place now within the pages. "Thank you for your kind words. I never owned a chocobo back home. Back there we rented them from a chocobo stable."

And he had gotten attached and treated his bird the best. Noct always accused him of spoiling the bird.

Pumpkins, there were so many of them. They all looked delicious and the ones that he'd acquired would be getting heavy soon if he didn't stop to purchase them and set them somewhere while he finished the rest of what he needed.

But at hearing Rhy's voice, Ignis immediately smiled and nodded. "Indeed I am." But before the proper greeting could come out, he had to incline his head. "That is quite interesting to hear. Luna is scheduled to stop by my place soon to learn how to cook, at her request."

There was a smile when the advisor realized Yusuke was here. "Good afternoon, and thank you most kindly." He noted that the boy was working on some sort of art, but he didn't want to pry and look at it. "What are you working on if I might be so bold as to inquire."

Reading could definitely wait, it had been a little bit since he'd had the fortune of running into Yusuke.

"I didn't either. We only used the ones that Shinra had for us, when we needed them. Though there was a baby chocobo I made friends with."

What a beautiful creature. He looks to it and raises an eyebrow, as if to ask if he could touch it.

Could pumpkins even be consumed? Rhy sure didn't know.

"Ah, I'm glad she's learning from someone," he says with a grin. "She has used our home to cook before, but it's not like we can teach little Princess how to be better at it."

Yusuke might hide some pieces, ones that were more personal, until they were complete. But today’s was simply an exercise to keep himself warmed up for more important works, something to occupy his time and give him a bit of an outlet of the creative sort. So he gestured at the park in front of him as he responded. “You are welcome to ask, Ignis. I’m currently intent upon capturing the subtle change of the season, something about the colours beginning the slow shift in between is rather interesting…” There was still so much greenery, but the subtle change was still slowly starting to creep in as September weather changed and leaves began to head towards their more brilliant fall hues.

Glancing in turn to offer his own curiosity, he smiled lightly. “And what might you be reading, if you don’t mind me asking?”

"What is Shinra if I might ask?" Ignis asked. He was trying to be his careful self and not ask a question that someone might not wish to answer.

At hearing about the baby chocobo though, Prompto flashed through his mind and he nodded. "Please go meet him. He is rather friendly and can be quite the beggar for greens."

Especially since Ignis spoiled him.

"She asked me when we had the whole gathering on the beach." Ignis replied with a nod. But then he looked at Rhy quizzically. "Neither of you cook then?" This was interesting, because he sure could take one of them on, but that wasn't something he was going to bring up right now.

"Ah, that must be quite the task since there are so many changes to capture." the strategist replied. "Will you be doing several pieces then?" Of course this was just his scholarly curiousity getting the best of him. This was a beautiful time of year and he was biased in liking it the best since that meant that his wedding anniversary wasn't that far off now.

Shaking his head from the ideas he was conjuring, he smiled and held up the book dealing with Autumn recipes. "I've been hearing tales of dishes that the hunters and patrons alike have had in the past. So I thought to investigate and see what I could come up with."

"The company I worked with," Zack said. He's a cheerful enough guy that he doesn't even have bitterness in his voice over it. He's moved past that already.

But with the agreement he grins and bounces over to the bird, happy to rub its neck.

"We got gyshals here? Oh, what colors do they have? Maybe I should get one, if I'm going to start a business."

Oh, that's a delight. Rhy smiles at that.

"No, we are barely learning. I've learned 'pasta'. We're neither of us from backgrounds that involved us learning to cook."

“It is, but I enjoy the challenge. It will only help keep my skills sharp and give me something new to learn and think about.” He responded with a pleased tone, eyes darting back to the scene before him as he began organizing some of his supplies. The question getting a nod from the teen. “I believe so, yes. Especially since things seem to be changing more and more every day at this point. It would make an interesting series, would it not?” Yusuke beamed slightly before glancing up at the sky. “It gives me something to do while I consider how to best capture another project.”

The subject of fall food gets a curious and excited glance from the boy. “Oh?” Forever hungry, but forever forgetting to eat in favour of working on his art until it was pointed out to him or someone shoved something in his hands to munch on. He was always going to be interested in hearing about what might be there to try when he had the chance to. “What kind of dishes? I should think there must be some interesting and different kinds of foods for the fall season compared to where I’m from if the other seasons have been anything to go by.”

"I see." the advisor replied. Well it sounded like the guy had a job back home and liked it. He could relate.

But the greens question had him nodding. "Yes they do have them." And while Ignis was about to ask another question, the last part stopped him short. "You're making a business out of feeding chocobos? You're going to become a stablehand perhaps?"

This was mere scholarly curiosity.

"Would you like some help?" Ignis asked. He clearly expected the answer to be a polite no which he was totally okay with. However, the thought of two grown men not being able to properly cook had him at a crossroads.

Ignis smiled, pleased at the answer of Yusuke enjoying a challenge. Well that was what life was about some times, challenges and seeing how one could go about overcoming them. "Have you thought about displaying your pieces? Especially since you're speaking of making a series of them?"

He had to think. "I can't seem to recall anywhere for an art gallery. And you will need somewhere indoors since we will have rain in the autumn which is coming soon."

The enthusiasm with the food pulled another smile out of him. "Well there's pumpkin soup and I admit I'm not cooking as many potatoes as I seem to think I should be. There are also more roasted vegetables that I need to try my hand at." Inwardly he was laughing because he thought of Noct with a horrified expression at hearing anything to do with vegetables.

"But if you're willing to taste test for me, I can pay you in eating said foods."

The question gets a bright smile, and his tone is definitely more energetic and excited as that particular passion for his art shone through. He hadn’t gotten to share this with many yet, though it had been in the works in the last month or two. The fact that he’d been offered a space without the pressure of selling his pieces was an exciting venture that he hadn’t expected to find here. “Oh, I have! A lovely woman I met, Aerith, has kindly offered to allow me to hang some of my pieces in her shop.” He was hoping the focal piece would be the portrait he had been working on of the woman herself when she had modeled for him, but he might have been getting ahead of himself there.

Yusuke himself appreciated dishes with variety, and the descriptions of the food Ignis was going over were rather intriguing. “Oh, that all sounds marvelous! Pumpkin is a rather delicious option for the season… I’ve always been rather fond of the kabocha variety simmered in the colder months, it’s a wonderful treat.” he added with a smile, definitely not the sort to turn his nose up at vegetables either. Well, really, Yusuke was happy to eat anything when he had the opportunity. Came of growing up with little and having to take care of himself for the most part, unfortunately.

The offer gets a startled little tilt of his head, attention snapping back to Ignis rather quickly at the offer. “I would be happy to taste test for you. To be paid in a good meal would be an absolute delight!” He didn’t need money these days, after all… Ren had come up with an ingenious solution to their money problems shortly after arriving. But food? Food was always something that was smart to take advantage of.

Plus, it tricked him into taking a break from his art or projects to eat. People had to do that, sometimes, to remind him to stop long enough to fill his stomach.

"Ah Miss Gainsborough has taken care of that already." Well at least the lad had somewhere to hang his portraits. And that was a good thing, because what he had seen so far was definitely beautiful and no doubt Yusuke would be making plenty of coin here because of that.

The sort of unfamiliar dish sparked his interest. "Did you say kabocha?" That naturally piqued the scholarly curiousity and he wondered if his books had that, so he smiled. "Care to explain what sort of ingredients go into making a dish such as that?" He might even attempt serving it at the Lodge if he could make it into something that Yusuke could say was close to what he had back home.

There was another smile at the lad's enthusiasm about food. "I would greatly appreciate the chance to have someone make sure something comes out as it should." Nida was probably way done with Ignis having him try things out. "Let me know when you're ready and I'll set it up for you."

Luna was dressed for the chilly weather with a light pink coat pulled over a simple daisy yellow dress. She had a small notepad in her left pocket and a pencil in her left in order to communicate with Ignis throughout their lesson. She hoped that it wouldn't be too difficult. She'd found that gardening and writing aren't two activities that can be done at the same time.

She smiled as he opened the door and held up the prewritten note with her greets on it. 'Hello. Thank you for letting me come today.'

The little princess stepped inside and took a seat in front of the cookies and tea. She hadn't expected to have snacks before they began their lessons but she was eager to drink something warm after walking through the chilly streets.

"No, not like that," Zack says, shaking his head. Not as simple as that. "I'm saying maybe I should get a chocobo if I'm going to start a business. I'm a handiman. I help those who need help."

See, it's simple. Or maybe he'd explaining it really poorly. Which is probably true.

Help? Rhy looks shocked by the offer.

"Surely you are quite busy. I would hate to be a burden."

The only coin the teen was going to be made until he got over his fear of becoming like Madarame was going to be through thievery… But the surrounding adults didn’t need to know that. He and his friends were pretty good at keeping secrets. “She has! I only hope my work do the walls of her lovely establishment justice, I think I’m… starting to work past my slump, but I think I have a long way to go yet.” Yusuke finally responded with a small nod, eyes finally moving back to the canvas he’d been working on.

He wasn’t sure if this piece would be the one, but he was feeling ambitious about the project, at least.

The question is met with a small smile. “Indeed, it’s a simmered Japanese pumpkin dish. Let me think…” He murmured thoughtfully, it was a simple enough dish. One that he’d had once or twice while living in the shack, since it wasn’t particularly expensive to make. “Along with the pumpkin, of course… There is dashi, soy sauce, sake, mirin and sugar, I believe. Some of the older pupils would make it during the winter months while they were still around.” He explained with a smile, finishing off the list that he could recall.

He was happy to help with the request, of course, and he nodded quickly. “I shall check with my friends and let you know when I have a free evening to sample, then!”

"Ah, you're going to repairs. Are you specializing in certain areas or?" He let his voice trail off so that Zack could fill in the blanks as he so chose.

Still, he smiled. "A chocobo is an excellent way to get around, so I recommend getting one. If you don't have the room then you can keep it in the chocobo stables here."
