Waver’s world called that the decline of mystery, something that had been happening for a very long time… Which was probably why so many families took as many risks as they did to preserve the secrets of their magecraft and why the professor was sometimes considered the enemy of that. He liked to know how things worked, and to recreate things in a more accessible way that other mages could use… So while he loved magic more than anything, the way his mind tended to work was considered improper for a mage.

Of course, he would be rather grateful to know he’d avoided a potential risk, given he didn’t know how Harry’s sight worked. He didn’t like people knowing him particularly well, even among his students. Some could only speculate at times beyond snippets of what he shared here and there over the years, when it seemed appropriate. The day that he learned more about Harry’s abilities, and potentially experienced that aspect of them, would be a rather interesting day.

But he had his mind set to a job that needed doing, one that he tended to enjoy as much as he might grumble. Research and sorting through papers, making plans, learning about this place and to perhaps approach getting to an operational level from this standpoint while the people with more power took care of that angle. “Then we know what we’re doing. If you finish, you know where to find me, or if I come across something, I’ll let you know.” He added, adjusting the bags at his shoulder before turning away. “Good luck with the wards.” He added, before moving for the door to find his way to the offices and records room.
