Honestly, it would have been weirder to the man if Ren had put on the innocent act here, and would have made him slightly suspicious. Even Flat hadn’t managed to pull the wool over his eyes with magecraft when trying to fool him when they met. Waver was particularly observant, even for a mage. It was a trait that came in handy and got him into trouble in equal measures, of course.
“Yeah?” He leaned against the door, abandoning his attempt at forcing it himself and folding his arms with a raised brow as the teen started to rummage through his bag. “You carry around a took kit or something?” He would be surprised to find that was partially true whenever Ren found his crowbar.
For now, he considered the question thoughtfully, deciding there wasn’t much point in lying on the topic. “Something like that.” He responded with a glance at some of the junk still lying around. “I’ve been looking for a place to set up, and this part of the city seems to have no shortage of unused spaces.” This one seemed a decent size and distance from the district’s actual businesses. He had a feeling if he could get a look around inside that it would be good enough for what he had in mind.
That said, he took the opportunity to turn the question around after having volunteered an answer himself. “What about you? Are you ‘just exploring,’ or are you usually around here lending a helpful hand to strangers?”
