“The ones who don’t think of humans as an enemy or a meal on sight, really. It’s easier to gain their trust and get the upper hand when they don’t see you as a threat on sight. Easier to best them at contests, or to steal something they cannot be without.” The kitsune responded with a small tilt of his head. He has a feeling she’s looking for a more precise answer here, but it was a bit of a long topic.

The kitsune agreed, it was a foolish risk to take… But humans did seem to love to take risks that weighed more heavily on the danger side rather than the reward. “That depends, really. Some, I presume, do it for the excitement, as some humans are prone to such folly… Others for a prize of some kind. We do have contests for them now and again, valuable magical talismans granted to the winner. Usually limited in use, but enticing all the same.”

The frown on Yusuke’s face indicated much the same, really. “Nor do I… But I expect we’ve been dealt the less lucky hand than our counterparts on that front.”
