Leon was walking along the beach. Sure he'd heard something about sharks in the sand but paid them no mind. Anything like that he could handle, as he faced worse at the Coliseum and Underdrome. He was nobody's fool and even here still competed with the fighters because it was good to keep his skills sharp.

Different worlds, but they all had the same thing about fighting and in case anything happened while he was here, Leon wasn't going to get caught out at not having trained his sword skills. Still, nothing looked amiss though he thought he saw an occasional fin. But whenever he'd look directly at it, nothing materialized.

So he just kept moving, narrowly avoiding being hit in the head with a beach ball and kids thoughtlessly chasing after it.

Jacob was enjoying his time at the beach by swimming out amongst the curling waves. He didn't have a bathing suit but wore a pair of shorts that work in a similar fashion. Everything felt as if it was normal when his bobbing figure was suddenly pulled beneath the waves.

While he was familiar with shark week, this was the first time he'd faced anything while treading water. His body curled downward while his fingers worked on the jaw that clasped his ankle. The moment he freed himself the shark thrashed, sending Jacob out of the water and onto the beach in front of Terra.

He groaned and rose to his elbow with a look of pained frustration. "What the hell-" That was all he was able to say as the fin swam from the sea to the sand. "You gotta be kidding me?!" Apparently, these sharks can swim through the sand.

Leon wasn't sure what the hell was going on and was wondering where the kid went that seemed to be swimming along pretty well. Then he disappeared and Leon went to the edge of the water, trying to see where he could intervene.

Next thing he knew, the kid was out of the water and on land. Grayish blue eyes looked at the kid when he spoke. And then a fin came up after the kid, so he shook his head.

"Run."

And Leon summoned his gunblade, taking a swipe at the thing.

Jacob bounced to his feet in a practiced motion before turning and dashing back to the bag he'd brought with him to the beach. He hadn't gone swimming with a weapon because who in the world would think to bring a metal object into salt water? Now he was realizing that he needed a weapon that he could carry around or summon like Illyana's sword.

Leon's swing caught the fin and tore at the fish's muscle but it didn't appear to have an interest in attacking prey that would hit it back. It was going after the defenseless Jacob and not letting up.

"Shi-" The fin rose from the sand and caught beneath Jacob's feet but he managed to turn the trip into a lung jump towards the dagger he had left in his bag. He rolled through the sand and then popped up with the blade ready. The fin had circled away from him and was turning, readying another attack.

"Get it from behind. I'll act as bait!"

Leon's dark blue eyes narrowed as he noticed the fin had been torn and it was bleeding. But for whatever reason this thing was focused on the boy who was running for his life. The gunblade wielder ran after the thing that was chasing the obviously defenseless person.

"Alright, have it your way."

Readying a Fire spell, Leon opened the palm of his hand, and sent a Firaga spell after the fin as it circled. His gunblade was still ready, sitting on his shoulder.

This was almost like watching Sora the first time they'd met in Traverse Town.

Jacob didn't know if this was 'his way' or 'the shark's way'. It didn't feel like he got much of a choice in the matter. The thing was fixated on him.

Maybe it was a smell thing and he smelled bad? He'd have to ask Yuki later. He didn't think he'd done anything to mess with the shark. Who would mess with a shark on purpose?!

Jacob used the dagger as a shield as the shark approached, shifting his body out of the way as much as possible. The shark was significantly stronger than him and it'd likely end poorly.

Thank goodness for this man and his magic. The fire hit the shark and it ducked back under the sand until jumping up into the air to bite at Jacob before turning to focus on Leon. Jacob tried to focus on the shark but the sudden fireball distracted him enough for the shark to get a good bite out of his calf before turning to focus on Leon.

He wasn't sure what this guy's plan was or even if he had one. He was just going to go with the default that the guy didn't and didn't even realize what had happened until he saw blood gushing out. And Leon wondered if he had a hi potion on him or not.

However, with the shark making a leap at him, the gunblade cut across the shark's mouth and it got another Fireball in it's face making it go back into the sand. He had to get this kid out of harm's way and so he kept an eye on the sand as he raced to get to the other's side.

And fast.

Jacob glanced down at his calf and decided it was best to ignore it for the next six seconds. It was bleeding but it wasn't too deep. They had more than enough time to take care of this shark before it'd become a problem.

He watched Leon, impressed with the man's movements while remaining in a defensive stance. He was ready to attack when Leon was suddenly at his side. "Is it down?" He asked curiously as the shark dove back into the sand. It looked as if it wasn't going to come back up...

that was when he saw the fin rise up from beneath the sand, heading back towards the ocean. Jacob really hoped that the shark was running away and not trying to circle back to get at them.

"It's not here. We should get you further up and take care of that bleeding." Leon knew nothing of sharks, but he figured it was like any other wild animal that he'd heard of, blood just had a habit of making things worse.

Leon turned and readied another fireball, but then saw the fin retreating. So he stood there with it in hand until the thing didn't seem like it was coming back. And only then did he dismiss it.

"Looks like you should be safe."

Jacob exhaled a breath and collapses into the sand. "Wow, this place has a talent for ruining everything." He had loved the beach as a kid though Maine had more rocks and less sand. Either way, he didn't want a stupid shark to make him dislike the water.

He'll have to try swimming again at another time and be armed.

"Huh? Oh it's fine. He looked down at his calf and moved closer to his bag. He had his shirt and a bottle of water. The water was used to clean the wound before wrapping it up tightly. "There. I'll be able to get back easy. I'd sew it up but don't carry around that stuff so." Jacob shrugged while packing up his other things. He'll head home and take care of it there. He never relied on magic and didn't even think to ask if he could be healed faster.

Leon eyed the injury and wasn't sure if he should stand here and argue with the kid. "Are you sure you're gonna be able to walk without that thing bleeding?" He'd seen plenty of injuries in the arena and people at least had potions there or something to cure the issue.

This kid didn't seem prepared at all.

"Tell me you at least know how to wield some sort of weapon."

Jacob tugged a backpack over his shoulders before looking back at Leon. "Huh? Yeah. I got this." He pulled out one of the long daggers he usually kept with him from the sheath that was attached to his backpack. He hadn't had it with him in the water because salt was killer on a metal blade.

"Besides, I've had worse." The blood loss didn't really bother him. In fact, a weird twisted part of him liked the exhilarated feeling of blood dripping from his calf but he knew logically that it was stupid and dangerous. He didn't want to make anyone worry and would get it looked at right away.

"You're welcome to follow me if you want." He didn't mind someone worrying about him.

Dark blue eyes looked over the blades and he nodded. He couldn't fault the kid for not having them on him while attempting to have a good time in the sand and in the ocean. He knew about how dastardly salt was to metal.

"Worse?" Leon asked, and he slightly scowled. Well he could relate to that but this kid didn't look like much. Now he was one to know that appearances could be deceiving so he didn't say anything.

"If I follow it's to make sure that you get that cut looked at."
