"Ah, but scary is the point of such tales! They were used to make sure bad little girls and little boys behaved as the adults around thought they should." Which might seem mean, but that was the point wasn't it? To be mean and make sure children didn't misbehave too much. "Most of those adults are foolish and have no idea of the truth hidden in their tales." Lucky for them.

"Respectable to wish to at least try. Though, if you do not know what this signal tower really does, you could be stepping into danger." A part of her wanted to tell him to not go at all, but she kept herself from saying that. When he returned to his own world he'd have no memories of this place or any warnings she might give. Not only that, but it would be unfair to try to stop him. This was clearly something he needed to do and that he felt strongly about. Who was she to stand in the way of that?
