“It was… At the time, I’d never had someone to spend it with before, but we got together with the intentions to compare New Year’s traditions since Rhy was missing the celebrations from his world. It was an um… A lovely evening.” He responded thoughtfully, looking back on it fondly as one of the better memories he now had in his life. The fact that he hadn’t even remembered it happened in his world bothered him quite a bit.
Admittedly, the two had been through a lot before their engagement… And with the increase in disappearances and the unpredictability of the Sphere? A spring wedding seemed perfect, especially after they had already danced around even being in a relationship or putting words to what they were for a terribly long time. And now…? Well, Llewellyn felt more than ever that it had been the right choice after having been thrown back into his world so suddenly and without warning. It had been right for them.
Rings were an interesting topic, though. They were treated differently in both their worlds. In Llewellyn’s world, wedding rings wouldn’t start to be a thing for men until after the first World War, and it wouldn’t be fully normalized until after the second. In Rhy’s, a ring would have been made as a symbol of Llewellyn’s entry into the Maresh family. So… They had made a decision to go non-traditional for rings when Rhy asked about the idea. Llewellyn found a men’s ring that reflected his own world’s era, while being the right colours for Rhy. Meanwhile, Rhy had eventually managed to somehow get his personal family signet ring at the Sphere and Llewellyn now wore it on his hand.
He even sealed the odd message with it in gold wax, just for his husband.
“It was a nice gift, I admit. Even if we both were, mm…. rather nervous.” He shook his head a little. “Though it was wonderful. I even managed to get something special for the house without him knowing as a surprise.”
