Llewellyn shook his head lightly. He didn’t mind these questions. Talking about his relationship with Rhy, about this life, was easier than speaking of the life he lived in his own world. “You’re welcome to ask. I uh- don’t mind sharing.”

Rubbing the side of his cheek, he tried to think back on how Rhy and he had shifted from good friends to something more. “It’s a bit complicated, really… We danced around the subject quite a bit… When we first met, I’d been fresh out of my world and a particularly trying time. I wasn’t really… comfortable or used to being flirted with. In my world, the relationships we have are criminalized, so doing something like that so openly was dangerous in my world. So Rhy was kind enough to stop when he realized I needed some time to adjust to things being different- safer in these places…” Huh… This was a less safe topic than he’d originally thought. Damn. He rushed ahead quickly. “So for a very long time we simply remained friends, bonding over the things that happened in that place and learning more about each other.”

The detective hummed lightly, “We had a very… awkward situation. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen something called a ball-pit before? But after we both got trapped in one- he pushed me in for a laugh and then someone then pushed him…” It had been so awkward, stuck at the bottom of the pit with Rhy pretty much straddling him and falling on top of him twice! “We sort of… Well, I sort of admitted I was open to the idea of him resuming his flirtations if he wanted to teach me in my inexperience with such things.”

Nodding to the bartender in thanks as his drink was refreshed, he continued after a sip. “There were some… other complications… But eventually Rhy was the first to actually suggest we go on a date, though I hadn’t realized it was one at first. So I suppose… In a way, it was Rhy who first shifted from friends to more.” And then things had finally begun to progress from there. Their relationship had been a rather slow thing, Rhy being patient with Llewellyn’s need to not rush and to adjust. To not feel like he had to look over his shoulder or be careful in public…
