First 👑 Lost without Direction [Open]

17th - House of Solace Orphanage

A small figure stood outside of the Orphanage with a steady frown pointed at the large building. She understood what it meant but denial crept through her little body like a snake. She wasn't an orphan. Her mother and father were alive but it didn't matter in this kingdom because her family wasn't here with her. She was alone and it was something that she wasn't able to get used to. It'd been two days since she'd first arrived and her loneliness only grew with each passing hour.

The nights were the worst. She didn't want to return to the orphanage where she was forced to try and sleep while unsettling thoughts plagued her. Perhaps she's cursed like her mother. She'd been told that this world wasn't a curse but what else could it be called.

Luna sighed softly before turning away from the Orphanage and walking down the street. When she grew hungry she'd have to return but for now, she was going to avoid the daunting building. Her shoes were a little too big, borrowed from Mono, and every few steps she tripped before regaining her footing once more.

She had no idea where to go or what to do.

20th - Nightime Storm

The nights were the worst and the sudden storm made it unbearable. Luna had hidden under her bed with a blanket over her head for the first hour but she could still hear the rumble and see the bright flashes of light through the nearby window. She cried silently making her throat ache for the voice that she'd lost. She wanted to call someone to come save her but no one could hear her cries.

She thought of her twin brother and knew that he'd have been there with her, holding her to protect her from the angry god that cried out for justice. Sole wasn't with her. It was time for her to be brave.

Luna gathered her blanket and wandered out into the rain. It was difficult to see but she'd been to Mono's home when he'd given her a pair of shoes and she was positive that she knew the way. The wind battered at her tiny form and if she'd been any taller then she would have blown away but she stood strong with her tiny fingers clinging desperately to the blanket wrapped around her shoulders.

Her steps stumbled to a stop when she spotted a figure in the distance. She couldn't make out what it was but stopped, falling to the ground as fear froze her tiny limbs.

23rd - Midday Songs

Her time in the city had been stressful and not without incident but there were calm moments too. In between the hours she found herself looking up at the sky with a thoughtful gaze. Was the storm truly over or was this a lull. Luna had never liked stormy weather and the castle she'd once lived in did nothing to define the noise. It was for this reason that she'd first begun to learn how to play the harp.

The small lyre that she'd been given from Llyewelln sat on her tiny legs as she carefully plucked the cords. The notes were a little different but the strings were the same.

Luna sat on a random street corner and began to gently pluck the lullaby that her mother used to sing to her. It wasn't overly complicated and even when she fumbled she was able to recover and recall the remainder of the song. It was far from perfect and she played one of the sets twice having forgotten what had come next but it was a lovely song. If it wasn't for the frown and slow draw of her fingers it might have sounded happy.

He waited and remained still as the little girl seemed to try to decide what to do. But then it seemed as if she wanted to speak, but no words came out. The raising of her arms was different and he wondered if she was going to cast a spell, but nothing happened. His blue eyes blinked as she shook her head and he had to ask.

"So..you're not okay?"

Terra continued to be as still as he could, not being sure if his standing up would disturb her or not.

"Can I help?"

Luna looked down at her feet before raising her chin to face the man in front of her. She was taught not to slouch or lower her stature, even when she was scared or nervous. It was difficult to meet his gaze when she struggled to communicate but she was going to try her best.

She shook her head to indicate that 'no' she wasn't okay.

At his next question, she frowned. Luna wasn't sure if there was a way to help or if she'd be lost in this city forever. She wanted her brother but he was likely too far away to help her.

After an awkward pause, she lifted her hand as if to ask Terra to hold hands with her.

"Alright." Terra replied. He figured this little girl couldn't be okay since she was so little and there weren't any parents hanging around this place. He hadn't seen another adult in a little bit now that he thought about it. And he gave her silent praise that she wasn't screaming or panicking which by all right was what she should be doing right about now.

The keyblade wielder moved his head to the side, unsure as to what the little one was asking, but he gently took her hand anyway. It was a small hold that she could break at any time but he stood up slowly as to not startle her.

"Did you want to go somewhere?"

Luna gently shook her head from left to right. She took Terra's hand and gently turned it over so that his palm was facing the sky. This wasn't an ideal way to communicate but Luna didn't know another way.

Meticulously, the young princess began to spell out a word. 'L - o - s - t' She looked up at him and waited for him to indicate that he understood before continuing. 'Do - you - know - the - queen?' Luna had been told that the evil queen wasn't in this city and that she was safe here but the young princess had her doubts.

Maybe if her brother was here it'd be okay.

This was a strange way of communicating but he let the little girl do what she wanted and he nodded once he figured out the first part. So she didn't know where she was. Alright, that was something he was going to have to deal with, but then she went on to spell out the next parts.

Queen. There was one Queen that he knew of, and that was the one who wanted Snow White's heart. But he was pretty sure that she wasn't here. Or so he hoped. Terra hadn't had a chance much to explore the new places so he couldn't be sure that she wasn't here.

So he kept his tone even because he didn't want to alarm this little girl. "The one I know..I don't think she's here. You're not related to Snow White, are you?"

Luna shook her head from left to right before continuing her attempt at communication. 'Taila. Mom. Sleeping Princess.' No one knew her mother as a lady of the court but as the sleeping princess who was cursed by a stranger. She knew the story and found it romantic as her mother awoke after meeting her father but Luna didn't know all of the details.

'Queen evil. Hurt. Cook. Brother and me.' She looked up at him to see if he understood what she was trying to say. Telling someone the truth was a gamble but he said that the queen wasn't here and as far as Luna knew, there could only be one.

Who else would want to be an evil queen like the woman who tried to cook and eat her and her twin brother.

Terra's blue eyes grew wide once Luna was spelling out sleeping princess. It made him think of the Princess in the castle that Maleficent had him take her heart. And that made him feel sick. But if this was somehow her daughter, then Terra had to protect this little girl at all costs.

He then gazed back down and nodded even if he was internally horrified at what she was spelling out. Why would Maleficent want to cook this little girl and her brother? Well whatever the case was, he wasn't going to let any harm come to her.

"If that's the one I'm thinking of, I haven't seen her."

Although he did have a score to settle if this little girl's mother and the sleeping princess was the one with Maleficent in Enchanted Dominion.

He nodded once more. "I'll keep you safe until we can figure out where you need to go."

She didn't think that he would know her mother personally or anyone from her kingdom but with each new person she met, there was a small sliver of hope that she might become acquainted with someone from home. It was terrifying to possibly meet someone aligned with the queen but being entirely cut off from her home and her family was somehow worse. If her family was here she wouldn't be forced to in the orphanage.

Her dark eyes brightened when it appeared that he was familiar with her mother.

Maybe he was a good person like the palace chief and her wife.

Luna gently traced her name on Terra's palm before pointing to herself. She then traced a question mark into his palm and pointed to him.

He saw the bright look in her eyes and for her sake, he was happy. Terra had no idea what he said or did to earn it, but whatever the reason, it made him smile.

But then she traced her name on the palm of his hand and he looked at her in understanding and nodded. "It's nice to meet you Luna, I'm Terra. And I'll keep you safe."

That was a promise he would keep, just as he'd told his friends that one day he'd set things right. And he did.

Terra. It was a really pretty name. It was sturdy a name and it meant that he was named after the earth that encompassed the space beneath her feet. It was a name that reminded her of her and her brothers name, one that held a promise of something wonderful for the one who named him.

The young princess offered him a shy smile before taking his hand. She didn't know where they were going to go but she didn't want to return to the orphanage until she absolutely had too and Terra had promised to keep her safe.

Even if it was just following him around for the day.

She took his hand and Terra smiled for a moment, before realizing she wanted him to go with her. He wasn't sure where to go or what to do, but he did remember Ven when he first got to the Land of Departure. After Ven had laid down after their first meeting, and Terra had received a small scolding from Master Eraqus, Aqua had wondered if Ven might be hungry.

So once he woke up, that was the first thing they did was to try and feed him. And the boy practically wolfed everything down. It now made Terra feel bad that he couldn't cook, but he did have coins that he could use. And since he was working he could always get more if needed. Coins were one of his goals at the Coliseum too, to get good enough to win chocobo races. But he should still learn how to cook.

Thinking on that, he turned to look at his small companion and he smiled at her. "Are you hungry? We can go get something to eat if you want."

Luna didn't care where they went, as long as they could continue to walk together. She didn't know him and a little part of her remained distrustful but she was happy to have the company. The world was very lonely when there wasn't anyone by your side.

Her chin rose and as elegantly as the child could, she nodded her head. She wasn't super hungry but she was content to do whatever he wanted to do.

There was a brief awkward pause when Luna realized that she had no idea where food was and without thinking about it she looked up at Terra, hoping that he'd be gallant enough to guide them.

She definitely reminded him in ways of Ven when he couldn't talk at first. But he did see the nod and headed towards that part of town. "Well there's a lot of different food in the market. You can just to point to something that looks good and we'll get whatever it is. There's a few benches and tables to sit down that are a little ways away from all the hustle and bustle there, so it'll be quieter."

He thought a moment. "It would be too far to go to the park, but we can do that after if you want. We can get some bread and see if we can feed the ducks there."

If anyone was after this little girl, they were going to see she was protected.

Luna nodded her head dutifully and followed at Terra's side. Her steps were short and he'd likely have to slow his stride or risk her tripping on the stones.

Terra reminded Luna of her twin brother and she wondered if Sole would grow up to look like him. They had the same brown hair and comforting dark eyes. He looked strong too, so maybe he was a knight.

She looked up at him when he started talking about ducks and tilted her head in a questioning expression. Luna had grown up sheltered and while she knew that ducks were something that they ate, she didn't know what the bird looked like when it was alive.

He did walk slower since Terra knew Luna's stride wasn't like his. But he kept her hand in his and they got to the market place. "Alright, we're here. Let me know what looks good and we'll get it for you." Of course he was hungry too but Luna's tummy was priority.

Terra then saw her questioning look and it made him wonder.

"They don't have ducks where you live?"

Of course he realized not every world had talking ducks like his did. But that wasn't important right now.

Luna frowned but then gently took Terra's hand to slowly write. 'Inside.' She looked back up at him, keeping his hand in hers, and then pointed to herself. It might be unclear but most of what she'd heard about the world was through books and stories. She didn't have a great deal of interaction with the outside world and what little interaction she had was terrifying.

She wrote one more word slowly so that he knew what she meant. 'Trapted.' When she was confident that he understood what she meant, Luna began to look around at the various stores and carts that were selling food.

She was so hungry and while much of the food smelled good, it was a small building with outdoor seating that caught the young princess's attention. With a revived spark in her dark eyes, Luna tugged Terra towards the small cafe and took a seat outside. She hoped that the server would find them and they could order whatever smelled so sweet.

It took him a few moments to realize what Luna was trying to say. And then he half scowled at the part where she'd said she was trapped. That burned Terra's ass in as much as when he realized Zack was being controlled by Hades in the Coliseum. Or when Ven had been in danger because Master Eraqus had gone mad somehow.

But seeing her wanting to sit down and have something to eat made Terra's darker thoughts temporarily halt in their tracks and he smiled at her. "Alright, but eat as much as you want, okay?"

He was determined to keep this little girl safe and his keyblade would do the talking for him if any bad people showed up to try and hurt Luna.

Luna nodded and patiently waited for a server to realize that they were sitting outside. Her posture was tight for a young child and while her feet kicked lazily at the air, her hands remained neatly folded in her lap.

When the server came out she asked what they wanted but without a menu, Luna wasn't able to order. She looked back at Terra with a frown, silently begging him to order whatever smelled good.

She wondered if she could spell out the word milk on the wooden table.

Not being deterred, Terra flipped the menu around to show Luna the pictures. He didn't trust that he'd know what to feed a little girl even if he'd had to feed Ven a time or two without Aqua around.

And that had been pretty hair raising for an experience.

So he looked at Luna and smiled. There was a drink menu too which was handed to him a moment later. "Pick whatever you want."

Princess Luna begins to carefully point to what she wanted, nodding or shaking her head as the waitress confirmed their order. She was incredibly attentive though her gaze occasionally looked over at Terra as if star struck by the unbelievably gorgeous man.

Lune ordered warm milk with a few small cubs of chocolate on the side. She then ordered a small plate of cookies and a small salad decorated with a collection of fruit and nuts.

It wasn't a great amount of food but it all sounded delicious.

He just smiled at her and let her get whatever she wanted. Terra ordered his stuff too, which came down to a huge beef sandwhich, some French fries because he'd had those the last time he was here and a chocolate milk shake.

Once the waitress confirmed everything and walked off, he smiled at Luna. "If you want more food after you eat, just let me know, okay?"

Luna bobbed her head with a smile while taking the time to look around the city. She wondered if her companion had been in a city like this before. He looked comfortable though his shoulder armor made him look like a knight.

She wanted to ask him but wasn't sure how. In the end she stared at him with a bright inquisitive stare, hoping that he'd speak without her vocally prompting him.

After this she was going to get herself some paper.

As he was waiting, he noticed Luna looking around. It seemed like a good thing to do so he started looking around too because why not. Soon enough Terra noticed the stare and wondered what she was thinking.

"Is something wrong?"

It didn't look like it, but maybe there wasn't. Still, he couldn't be too sure and wanted to make sure that she wasn't in any distress.

She shook her head gently from left to right, letting him know that she was okay. Her expression wasn't happy but content and patient. She was not long as panicked as she had been when Terra had first run into her.

After a short silent pause, the young princess reached forward and began to try and spell out on the wooden table.

'tell me about' She then drew an arrow that pointed at Terra's chest.

Well alright she seemed okay and that was a relief. But then he watched curiously as she began to spell something out on the table. It took him a minute or two to figure it out but once he did, Terra pulled back and placed a hand over his heart while looking at Luna.

"You want to know about me?"
